the rules

there are basically three of them and one of them is a joke.

whoever pays the most is number one

that's it. no algorithm, no cleverness, no secret weighting. one number decides the whole board and you can see everybody's number.

you can never pay more than one dollar over the leader

if the top pet is at $40, the most anybody can pay is $41. not $500. not $41.50. forty-one dollars.

this is the entire point of the site. no matter how high this thing climbs, the top spot always costs exactly one dollar more than whoever's holding it. nobody can buy their way out of reach.

new pets start at one dollar

$1 puts any pet on the board. every bid is a whole dollar — no cents, no decimals, don't try it.

anyone can bid on any pet

yours, your friend's, a stranger's, a turtle you have never met. you don't need permission and you don't need an account. there is no login on this website anywhere.

one bump per pet per minute

after a pet gets bumped it sits still for sixty seconds. this stops two people from spending forty dollars in nine seconds and then emailing me about it.

refunds

there aren't any. you paid to put a pet on a leaderboard. it went on the leaderboard. that is the transaction and it completed.

taking a pet down

is your pet up here and you'd rather it wasn't? email eliriprefs@gmail.com and it's gone, same day. we won't argue about it and we won't refund whoever put it there.

we'll also remove anything that's cruel, stolen, or not actually a pet.

if two people bump the same pet at the same moment

both payments go through and the pet keeps the higher amount. nobody's pet ever goes down because someone else was slower. we still keep both bids on record.
